Baby Locomotion

By special request, we've made a video of Corvin crawling and one of Mazzie walking. It's true, Mazzie's video is about a minute long and Corvin's is less than 20 seconds. Be it herein known that the length of these two videos is not a measure of our love for each baby, but instead a measure of how quickly they each get where they are going.

Oh, please ignore our funky carpet - we just rent. (We clean it every six months professionally, but there's only so much we can do. I feel another cleaning coming soon.)

2 Year Olds and 10 Month Olds

A few of exciting things happened within the last week. Let's see...

About one week ago Mazzie took her first steps! Yes folks, Mazzie has begun to walk. She is taking up to five steps at a time. Corvin is contented to crawl, but you would be too if you could crawl as fast as he does.

Then, on Saturday, Corvin and Mazzie attended their first birthday party. Their friend Dylan turned two years old. For those of you who don't know Dylan, she's the little girl being pulled in the pink dump truck in her birthday dress.

And today was Corvin and Mazzie's 10 month birthday! We got Mazzie and Corvin a Push 'n Ride (the little blue/yellow/red car in the videos below). When I temporarily put it just beyond the safety gate today, Mazzie mourned it with big, soggy tears so I had to hide it entirely - - out of sight, out of mind. I highly recommend watching both videos. Get ready to be amazed!

Hello, Tap Tap Tap

To catch you all up:

-Mazzie is cruising around on furniture (walking while holding onto furniture), crawling like lightning, crawling up stairs, standing for increasingly long periods of time without assistance, and still the toothless wonder. Mazzie, the mad scientist, likes to run experiments on her brother to see how he will respond if she, say, dangles a desirable object in front of him then pulls it away.

- Corvin is crawling quite rapidly himself and just getting into pulling up to standing while holding on to furniture. He is 100% ham when in silly moods. He regularly gets Mazzie laughing with his silly antics. He is also a budding percussionist and likes to go "tap tap tap" with one object on another.

Babies' First Road Trip

Corvin and Mazzie have been busy. The week after the visit from Mimi (their grandmother, Mary Ellen), Corvin and Mazzie embarked on a 1,000 mile-long (one way) road trip from Colorado to California.



Corvin and Mazzie slept through the night while Steve and I drove. Here we are at a scenic viewing area for Black Dragon Canyon in Utah at about 6:30AM.





We stopped at the half way point between our home and my brother Jade Star's home: Richfield, Utah. We spent the day resting at a hotel and Corvin and Mazzie swam in a pool for the first time. (Neither Steve nor I is thrilled with our bathing suit bodies, but it's all about the babies, right?)




Early Sunday morning, we arrived in Claremont, CA, where Uncle Jade Star, Aunt Hilary and Counsins Finn and Siri live. They live in a beautiful area and we got out for a number of walks, but the real focus of our time was letting the cousins all meet each other for the first time.

In addition to meeting their cousins, Mazzie and Corvin got to meet Willow, Claire and Charlie again. Remember Willow? The first picture was taken at our house in November when Willow was three months old and Mazzie and Corvin were almost one month old. The second picture was taken in Claire and Charlie's back yard in Sherman Oaks, CA.




We went to Griffith Observatory. You can see the Hollywood sign from the grounds.



We kept hearing people say, "Oh my god! That's so cute! She's waving." Mazzie was waving to passers by while Steve pushed the stroller around at Griffith.



On Friday, Charlie took the day off from work and played tour guide. We went to Malibu via Topanga Canyon. We had lunch at a restaurant with a great ocean view, then spent a little time at Malibu Lagoon State Beach - - Corvin and Mazzie's first time at the ocean.

Oh, here's a little reward for those of you who read to the end of the blog: Corvin has two teeth now visible if not fully in, and Mazzie has started to crawl and is working hard on standing up on her own.
