Happy 5th Birthday, Corvin and Mazzie

Amazing. How did my children become five?

Once they were little acorns...

and now they are sturdy saplings...

And they had a very happy birthday. Thank you, everyone!

Merry Christmas 2013

Image of a Christmas card sent by my grandmother, Elaine Lackey, in 2003. My uncle Dale (age 5) near the water's edge and my dad, Nick (age 3) in the foreground, Caspar Beach, Caspar, CA 1947.
Christmas card (image above, text below) from my grandmother Elaine Lackey (2003):

As we wait for a more peaceful and compassionate
world ahead, let us be grateful for all that we have
in this wonderful country of ours.
Cherish the family and friends you have, and let
your love overflow to include those you encounter
in your daily life, for the more you love, the more
you will be loved.
Have a Merry Christmas and a
Bountiful New Year

If you knew my grandmother, I'm sure you can hear her voice.

And from Steve, Corvin, Mazzie and me:

Merry Christmas! We wish you a Christmas and a New Year full of love and fun!

Merry Christmas!

Family, friends, lights, beauty, snuggling in, and creating magic in the middle of the darkest days of the year. A generous, white-bearded man in a red suit who dedicates his entire year to getting ready for that one special night each year, snow (3 1/2"), making wishes come true, stories of love and miracles, celebrating the people in your life with time together or a thoughtful gift, remembering what truly matters.

Merry Christmas and a healthy, happy, abundant New Year to you, those that you love, and really everybody everywhere.

Santa's laugh was infectious. I was laughing in spite of myself.

Santa came!

Corvin asked Santa for an airplane

Train whistle - woot! woot!

wooden train whistle and slide whistle

Chocolate boulders

Santa brought PB dog treats, but not enough to make her fat.

The Christmas Story, a long-standing tradition for Steve and his family

Macha (Mom's grandma name) in her fringe boots on Christmas

Feedbag (wrap is headed to the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHARM) in Boulder. Thankful we can recycle it.)

Mazzie had a slide whistle theme this Christmas
