New Home, New Neighborhood

New "Home, home on The [Front] Range"
-Kansas state song

As most of you may know, Steve and I have moved. We remain on The Front Range and in Boulder County, but one town away from Boulder in Louisville, CO. Louisville is an old mining town - not unlike many other communities with roots in Colorado - but perhaps distinguishes itself from, say Gypsum or Leadville, CO because it was a coal mining town.

We would miss our old neighbors except for the fact that Steve works with old neighbor Andrea and we have already hung out with Tamtam and Yellow Bird on several occasions including, most recently, on Yellow's birthday. Happy birthday Yellow Bird!

We have met five neighbors on our street already. Just one row of houses separates us from open space that includes walking and biking trails, which lead to our awesome downtown about 1 mile away. But I'll save this tale for another blog. ; )

We've been having some fun with our new space. Here's a little tour.

The kitchen window looks north onto the street and my violets are expressing their gratitude for northern light by blooming prolifically.

Introducing the Boognish as a pirate. The Boognish is beloved by fans of the band Ween. This is our first significant art purchase that was framed by our old neighbor Jennifer in this wonderful nautical patina frame. This weekend Steve and I did a little yard sale-ing -against his will, at first, but soon he got in the spirit of it. We purchased the brass reindeer, dragon/serpent, and bird-and-leaf candle holder to have a little fun with the old school wallpaper, fireplace and our new art.

I painted the bookshelf with a patina-like finish to compliment the Boognish.

And the beautiful backdrop for it all. (OK, this isn't visible from the house, but easy to get to.)
