Single Professional Camel ISO Other Camels

No camel route is long with good company.
-Turkish Proverb

Daily Camel, a very social creature that loves all animals, at times misses her own kind in Boulder. She wondered to herself, "Where can I possibly find more camels to play with?" After several minutes of musing, she exclaimed," The desert!"

This past weekend Daily went to the desert in search of companionship. Along the way, she decided to stop in a mystical sounding place called Garden of the Gods where, rumor had it, a couple of Camels frolicked. Bathed in the clear, high country sunshine, the Garden of the Gods was a sight to behold. The two camels were not hard to find as they had found their way to the top of a very tall, narrow, mountainous band of red rock.

"Excuse me!" Daily yelled.

"Hello!!!" She shouted, but to no avail; the two camels were very into one another and locked in a passionate kiss. (See #3 on map.)

It was clear to Daily that these camels only had eyes (and lips) for each other.

"Besides," Daily thought, " the real desert starts in New Mexico!" From the Garden of the Gods to the Land of Enchantment: New Mexico.

"Now this IS an adventure," Daily thought as she passed antelope, buffalo and volcanoes on here way to Sante Fe where she would take in the art, sites and sounds.

"Who needs other camels? I can have my own fun."

Daily headed to Sante Fe. In Sante Fe, Daily strolled around the downtown coming across the jewelry market where various Native American jewelers set out blankets with their wares. Daily had been advised to bargain down, but after a long conversation with one jeweler, she didn't have the heart, but he gave her a nice discount on the earrings anyway. Then she roamed about some more admiring the historic adobe structures and in the strong New Mexican light.

Weary, but excited by the prospect of art and nature, Daily headed toward Canyon Boulevard, a gallery-laden passage to the mountains. After taking in spring blooms, a giant Quan Yin statue and little meditating Buddhas in a garden, majestic whirly-doodle garden stakes, folk art and oh so much more intriguing art, Daily's brain was full and her dogs were barkin' - exhaustion prevented her from making it to the nature trails that start on Canyon.

To the best of her ability, she bee-lined toward the hotel, remembering that Whole Foods was next door - the most formal food she could manage in her tired, satisfied state. Southwestern cuisine would have to wait.

Daily snuggled into her hotel bed, enjoying the rare treat of a little boob tube before dozing off.

The next morning, Daily awakened refreshed for her next excursion to Bandelier National Monument where the ancestral Pueblo built cave dwellings - a sacred site to the Pueblo. The drive to Bandelier was so scenic: snowy peaks, hills that looked like poured sand, angular rock, a camel...

"A camel?!?" Daily thought. She whipped the car over with excitement. Daily and the camel greeted one another and passed several jolly minutes being joyous upon an encounter with another camel. Then she was off again.

Daily had come to realize that, while camels are fun, she didn't need another camel to have a grand adventure. Off to Bandelier National Monument!

On the way back, Daily spotted Crystal's second cousin Pandy's Quilt Shop - quite a surprise given that Daily wasn't looking for Pandy and, furthermore, Crystal and Pandy have never met. Looks like a true spirit of adventure brings many surprises!

Daily waved goodbye to the camel once again when she passed on her long trip home. And two miles down the road, she at some mean New Mexican tamales and enchiladas washed down with a tasty Martguerita. Mmm, Mmm!

Tune in tomorrow for more images from the trip.
